The Fayetteville Public Library invites veterans of all ages to attend Power of the Pen: Veterans Write, a workshop series designed to preserve personal military stories that are often lost to family and friends over time. This workshop supports our Ancient Greeks/Modern Lives: Poetry-Drama-Dialogue summer program events which discuss how ancient Greek works are directly relevant to the lives of American veterans.

J. B. Hogan and Duke Pennell, both veterans and accomplished writers, will present this writing series running bi-weekly on Tuesdays from May 22-June 19 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Ann Henry Board Room.

This relaxed format workshop offers a chance for veterans to write and discuss their military experiences using common elements of place, events, memorable people, humor, and personal reflection. Regardless of whether you are a first-time or a seasoned writer, veterans attending the three workshop sessions will have a chance to share stories and learn useful ways to document their military experiences for future generations.

The writing sessions will evolve based upon the participants, but will highlight broad topics such as:
May 22- Why should you write?
June 5- Who and what do you remember?
June 19 - How did you handle life after the military?

• Wednesday, May 16: Internet Secrets Exposed, featuring the Great Googley Moogley will discuss the FPL site, internet safety and advanced features of Google
• Tuesday, May 22: You've Got Mail! Learn how to keep email boxes organized and spam free.
• Wednesday, May 23: Work It: Resume Building and Online Job Searching shows participants options for resume creation and job hunting with the internet.

Each class runs 9:30am-11:30am in the library's Computer Lab. Admission is free and open to the public, but registration for each class is required. Registration begins May 1.
